Overview of Skin Layers

Epidermis

Dermis

Hypodermis (Subcutaneous Tissue)

The hypodermis, or subcutaneous tissue, is the deepest layer of skin. It consists mainly of fat and connective tissue, serving as insulation and energy storage.

This layer also cushions internal organs and helps anchor the skin to underlying structures such as muscles and bones.
